Some people witness injustice and walk away. Nicole Moehring chose to stand and fight. Fueled by a mother's love and an unshakable determination to protect those who are vulnerable, she transformed profound pain into a purpose far greater than herself. Through courage in the face of adversity and hope in the midst of heartbreak, she built a movement dedicated to ensuring that every voice is heard, every life is valued, and every individual has the opportunity to live free from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Her legacy is not measured by what she has endured, but by the lives she has changed and the hope she has given to others along the way.
Nicole graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in health service administration and has over 30 years of experience in corporate, non-profit, and healthcare environments. Focusing on the areas of Marketing, Admissions, and Development. She has been the founder and executive director of Voices of Change 2018 for the past six years, and Evan and Gillian Says since 2022.
Throughout her career, Nicole has been invited to be the keynote speaker for many local and state organizations. She has served on numerous boards and committees, such as The Ohio Attorney General Committee for Crime Victims with Disabilities, as an Advisory Board Member for Natalie's Voice, and as a DS-Ambassador for the National Down Syndrome Society, The Fragile X Alliance of Ohio, The Northeast Ohio Polycystic Kidney Association, Trials for Hope, and The Children’s Center of Medina County, to name a few.
Over the past eight years, Nicole has been interviewed by multiple media and news outlets, newspapers, and magazines, invited to be a guest on talk radio and podcasts, and featured in many magazine articles.
Nicole is a quarterly columnist for Exceptional Needs Today Magazine.
Nicole's first book is, “Finding Myself: Overcoming Abuse, Heartbreak, and Loss, Then Finding True Love.” Her second book is, “Evan's Voice: A Boy with a Disability, Abused and Failed by Many, and His Mother's Quest for Justice.” Both books are available on Amazon. In May 2022, Nicole was humbled to be awarded as an Inspire Medina County Everyday Hero Honoree.
In 2022, Nicole Moehring created "Evan Says", a groundbreaking series of books and educational resources dedicated to empowering individuals with cognitive, developmental, and intellectual disabilities with the knowledge and skills needed to recognize, prevent, and report abuse. Inspired by lived experience and developed in collaboration with professionals, editors, and artists, the series addresses critical topics including body safety, boundaries, consent, self-advocacy, and trusted relationships. Each book features a companion guide for parents and caregivers, helping families continue these important conversations beyond the pages. The books will be available in the "Evan Says" series, Summer 2026.
In May 2021, Nicole was honored to receive the Crucial Point Award. An annual award is given to people and organizations that delve beyond the surface of sex crimes to focus on overlooked niches of survivorship.
Nicole is working with state legislators to change current laws and pass new ones to enforce more robust policies and best practices for child abuse reporting, how cases are processed, and secure funding for crime victims with disabilities. In addition, Nicole is working with state legislators to pass “Evan’s Law.”
Nicole resides in Medina, Ohio, with her husband, Chris, and their two children, Maci and Evan
